The conservation of the Killerton lanterns is now complete, and they look splendid! Details of the conservation work will follow soon...
Vehicle damaged gates and throw have been restored to their past glory thanks to Heritage Blacksmith Partnership. Someone drove a forklift into these beautiful early 20th Century gates and throw, damaging the piers as well as bending the ironwork.
Heritage Blacksmith Partnership brings together two experienced blacksmiths, Alex Coode AWCB and Simon Doyle AWCB and our team. We are committed to the conservation, restoration and replication of heritage ironwork, and the creation of modern classic ironwork using traditional skills and techniques.
Specialists in ferrous conservation for the UK heritage industry, we offer sensible, sensitive and responsible conservation and restoration of important ironwork using both traditional blacksmith’s skills and, where appropriate, modern techniques. Our extensive blacksmithing experience allied with a firm knowledge of conservation principles means that clients involved in heritage conservation can be assured that all our projects will be undertaken to the highest craft and conservation standards.
Conservation projects as varied as a 43-foot-long highly decorated screen at a private client’s country estate to the iron straps and hinges at a small heritage site have been completed, with no project too large or small for our dedicated team. We are often involved in a project from beginning to end. Our skills and experience are called on regularly when writing tenders and specifications, and ironwork is usually the last thing on site to be installed. This dedication and commitment to traditional quality of workmanship and our informed knowledge of modern conservation practice is what drives us to deliver the highest standard of conservation, restoration and replication of heritage ironwork.
From our traditionally equipped Blacksmiths workshop to our clean painting and conservation warehouse, your conservation or new build project is in the hands of traditionally skilled blacksmiths and conservation specialists with the knowledge and experience that matters.
